How to use
Enter your battery capacity in kWh, the percentage you usually charge to, your home electricity rate, and how many charging sessions you do per week. WattCost works out energy = battery × (charge% ÷ 100), then multiplies by your rate.
Home Level 2 charging is one of the largest regular loads in an EV household, so a small rate change moves the yearly cost a lot.

Does this include charging losses?
This estimate uses energy stored in the battery (battery × charge%). Real wall consumption is a bit higher due to charger and cable losses, typically 5–15% depending on the equipment.
Is home charging cheaper than public fast charging?
Usually yes. Public DC fast chargers bill a premium per kWh or per minute, while home rates are your normal residential price used in this calculator.
How can I lower my EV charging cost?
Charge off-peak if your utility offers a night rate, keep the battery within 20–80% for daily use, and shop your electricity rate — the same rate field drives every calculator on this site.
